Bud Light Assignment Tips 2

Well, it’s time for another update, friends! Sorry for the steady stream of messages on our Bud Light program, but we wanted to convey a couple important things about the assignment.

First of all, Bud Light has already committed to buying the first video and are gearing up to purchase a second for $5,000 each! I will post those spots here as soon as the releases clear for you all to enjoy.

Secondly, speaking of releases… since it’s beer (yay!), Bud Light has to adhere to a lot stricter set of rules than most of our participating brands. Because of that, they need to be extra careful about what goes up online. They want to make sure they have all the necessary release forms on file for all the videos before we post.

If you have made or are making a video for the assignment, be sure to email Liza or me PDF copies of your forms as soon as you can. You can also fax them to (610) 832-1166

That’s it for now. Remember, subscribing to this blog will keep you up to date on all the happenings as soon as they happen!

Thanks for the update but can we get an email conformation that you (XLNTADS) has received our video’s and that they work properly. Thanks!

  2. Chris Says:

Nicely done on the two that have been posted. Good all around productions.

  3. Matt Gahan Says:

My actors are nervous about putting their social security numbers on the releases. Is this absolutely necessary?

  4. Chris Says:

Good question. Mine were the same way. I was told SSNs are only to be used for Government/Tax info. I would understand if they were going to get paid directly from Bud Light (as Bud Light would then need W-9 for each of them), but the releases say the ‘Consideration’ for the contract is ‘exposure/notoriety’ (not something that would require a SSN).

for the bud light ads, do we email the signed talent release forms right away? on the FAQ it says only if it’s picked for distribution…

  6. Joe Says:

I think the deadline should be extended for this contest.

  7. Erik Says:

I think it’s so sad how people feel the need to give lower ratings on good videos so that they feel better about their own. I mean seriously… look at the two current Bud Light spots. They were brutally attacked this weekend. Seriously pathetic what “competition” does to some people.

  8. Erik Says:

Why should it be extended??? One month was plenty of time — a deadline should be that. A deadline.

Hi everyone. It’s true, you are NOT required to put your SSN on the releases. I’m not sure why they included that line item, but don’t worry, it’s smart not to put it on. I’ll bring this up internally and see if we can get that changed.

  10. Mark Schoneveld Says:

As for ratings, I would love to see people rate their true feelings on the videos, but the truth is on this assignment ratings have no bearing. Don’t sweat it, folks.

  11. Gina Says:

Thank you for the understanding on the SSN number, my actors were so hesitant, that I almost lost them. It’s just the climate of the times, protect your identity.

  12. Patrick Wimp Says:

What address do we send the forms to? I can’t seem to find it on site, only that we need send them to Liza. Is that Liza@xlntads.com?

  13. Mark Schoneveld Says:

@Gina - awesome. Of course, you want to do that.

@Patrick - yup, send them to Liza. liza@xlntads.com

Important details, like sending in the release forms and putting copyright text on the videos really need to be made more obvious to the participants of the contest. We all put a lot of work into these videos, and for us to find out about these things from a blog entry is a bit frustrating. If important facts like this are omitted in the creative brief and agreements, then they should be posted on either the front page of the site, or at least on the assignment page. And why not also email those details straight to the submitters? I’m sure there’s still dozens of people who don’t know about sending in the release forms. I hope that these things don’t have any bearing on the contest, it would be horrible to be disqualified because the submission rules changed and you weren’t notified.

I have to admit - I’m still not clear on what to do. I know it’s not rocket science. - I’m not the most communicative or squeaky wheel type. :)

I just emailed the releases to you guys just to be safe - but who knows? Maybe my videos aren’t even in the running so it doesn’t matter? Would they contact you if A-B liked your video but you forgot to send in the releases because you didn’t know and you went traveling or working?

I think all the creators here need a small forum where we can support each other and talk about the contests and fill each other in on minute details and gripe and moan and cheer and laugh either on xlntads.com or maybe even off it.

Win or lose - it was a lot of fun for me and I suspect a lot of people still have a great piece of work they would have never been motivated to do if it wasn’t for Xlntads team who seem very grateful for the symbiotic relationship they are cultivating with the creators and they seem concerned to maintain it.

    :)
